James has had a life-long affinity with the sea. In addition to working in shipping for over 25 years, he is keen maritime historian and sails both classic yachts and racing dinghies.

A founding director of Gray Page, James specialises in shipping dispute resolution and is an expert in unravelling intricate vessel ownership and operating structures, as well as chartering chains. He also has substantial experience investigating complex cargo and liability claims.

In somewhat of a contrast to his gentlemanly manner, James is also a bit of a “petrol head” who loves rallying and scaring the life out of colleagues on the karting track.
